Though I am new to Rockridge Little School, I’ve been in the field of early childhood education for over 35 years — 32 of those years at the same preschool, where I first taught, then transitioned to site director.

My training in early childhood education comes from Merritt College in Oakland, California and Oakwood University in Huntsville,  Alabama.  I feel it’s important to stay current in the field, thus, I continue to attend many workshops and seminars.

What often distinguishes my longevity in early childhood is my devotion to the children and families I serve, and a strong commitment to the school community.  Working with children has always brought me a sense of joy, purpose, and happiness.

I believe that play is the work of the child and that teachers can consistently learn from children. I enjoy reading stories, singing songs, and dancing tunes that children choose and enjoy. I believe that simple learning tasks and creative art projects should be met according to developmental milestones and children’s interests.

On a more personal level, I was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana, but I grew up in the Bay Area with my parents and 5 siblings.  I enjoy singing,  spending time with family and friends, spending time in nature and serving at my local church.

I am excited to join the Rockridge Little School Family, and look forward to getting to know the children and RLS community. My hope is that collectively we can continue to foster seeds of love that inspire healthy growth and safe learning environments for all the children of Rockridge Little School.
